UK NATIONAL PRIVATE PILOT'S LICENCE (NPPL)
The NPPL has been introduced to encourage the popularity of recreational flying in the UK, during daylight hours and within sight of the ground. There are a reduced number of hours required for licence issue. The flying medical can be conducted by your own doctor. Licence issue requires 32 hours minimum flight training time, 10 of which is solo, passes in the 7 ground exams and practical radio telephony test, and successful completion of separate navigation and general handling flight tests.
NIGHT QUALIFICATION
When added to your PPL licence it allows flight beyond dusk. The qualification
requires 5 hours flying at night including dual and solo cross country and
5 solo take offs and landings. There is no test.
INSTRUMENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS RATING (IMC)
Increase your skills and reduce your weather limitations. Be able to fly in the clouds and conduct instrument
approaches to land. The rating requires 15 hours flying
training, a ground exam and final flight test.
FARM STRIP FLYING
Experience a different type of flying and operate into and out of small unlicensed airfields.
AOPA RADIO NAVIGATION COURSE
Consists of 5 hours training in enhanced navigation techniques using VOR, ADF, DME and VDF. This 5 hours can be used towards an IMC rating should the student wish to go further.
FLYING PARTNERS SAFETY COURSE
This course has been designed to increase the enjoyment, participation and confidence in flying for those that regularly accompany private pilots. The course gives the student 8 hours of training in basic light aircraft handling, and use of the radio to make a safe landing.
RIGHT HAND SEAT CHECKOUT
A fun thing to do. Try sitting in the right hand seat, with an instructor in the left hand seat. See how hard it is to fly with the "wrong" hands on the throttle and control column when trying to land.
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT LANDAWAY
Gain more confidence and land at an international airport, mixing with the heavy jets with one of our instructors.
GROUND SCHOOL
Ground school is offered to individual students or in small groups to assist with
study for the theoretical knowledge ground exams.
REVALIDATIONS AND RENEWALS
If your licence or rating is lapsed or is soon to expire then please enquire to
arrange a check flight with one of our instructors and a flight test with our
examiner. We can accommodate PPL, NPPL, IMC and Instrument
Ratings (IR) for Single Engine Piston Land (SEPL) in our Cessna
172 or your own aircraft.
